The country has drifted far from the Constitution of
the United States since the founding of the Republic.  
The drift was slow until after the Civil War and
accelerated briskly in the past 100 years.  The last
year has seen the words and the spirit of the founders
ignored, cast aside.  It is time to reverse that trend.  It
is time to return to limited government, fiscal
responsibility, and personal responsibility.  The
Congress, rightly or
wrongly, has never been held in repute since the
founding.  Recent events in the legislature have
reached new depths of malfeasance, corruption,
bribery, extortion, unethical and criminal behavior.  It
is time for we the people to exert our power over our
government.

our government spiral out of control. We've let an
establishment of beltway "conservatives" pretend
to work against big government, but ultimately fail in
their efforts. It's our turn to take control.

scared and motivated go to www.wsj.com , opinion page for Monday, October 4th find “The Trade and Tax Doomsday Clocks” by
Donald L. Luskin.  He details how the current Administration is following exactly in the footsteps of the FDR administration …. Actions
that drove the country further into depression in the 1930’s.   While you are there, see Tuesday, October 5th, opinion page, “The Bill
Gates Income Tax” by Arthur Laffer.  Laffer shows, once again, the direct connection between rising taxes and reduced productivity.  
Note that the actions create the same result every time…very consistent cause and effect.  Einstein noted that insanity was doing
the same thing over and over, expecting different results.  What is wrong with those people inside the beltway???

MISSION STATEMENT

We are a non-partisan, grassroots community organization established to advance and strengthen the Founding principle that life,
liberty and the pursuit of happiness are God-given rights guaranteed to every individual by the Constitutions of the United States
and the Commonwealth of Virginia.  We believe that government derives its power from the people and is established solely to
protect these rights.  The core principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, free market enterprise, personal responsibility
and governing with virtue and accountability are all necessary to ensure the preservation of our freedom.  We believe that local
government, communities and individuals are best suited to serve and represent the needs of the people.  Most importantly we
believe that citizen participation in the political process is a fundamental necessity for good government. To achieve these goals, we
will educate ourselves and each other on the Constitution of the United States, the Founders, and current issues.

Virginia State Code: § 15.2-2226. Adoption or disapproval of plan by governing body.

After certification of the plan or part thereof, the governing body shall post the comprehensive plan or part thereof certified
by the local planning commission on a website that is maintained by the governing body or on any other website on which
the governing body generally posts information, and that is available to the public or that clearly describes how the public
may access information regarding the plan or part thereof being considered for adoption. After a public hearing with notice
as required by § 15.2-2204, the governing body shall proceed to a consideration of the plan or part thereof and shall approve
and adopt, amend and adopt, or disapprove the plan. In acting on the plan or part thereof, or any amendments to the plan,
the governing body shall act within ninety days of the local planning commission's recommending resolution. Any
comprehensive plan or part thereof adopted by the governing body pursuant to this section shall be posted on a website that
is maintained by the local governing body or on any other website on which the governing body generally posts information,
and that is available to the public or that clearly describes how the public may access information regarding the plan or part
thereof adopted by the local governing body. Inadvertent failure to post information on a website in accordance with this
section shall not invalidate action taken by the governing body following notice and public hearing as required herein.

businesses have been struggling through
the Great Recession to make ends meet,
the County has increased taxes and
spending. Other localities in the area have
cut back spending; recognizing the drastic
impact that the Great Recession has had
on families and businesses while the
County has gone in the other direction.
The citizens of New Kent deserve
representatives that will treat the County’s
finances the way families and businesses
have been forced to deal with their own
budgets.”

How quickly people will give up their freedoms today for the illusion of security, and the false hope of
prosperity through government control. Perhaps it is time for all Americans to revolt against an oppressive
government, one that no longer is representative of the will of them majority, but rather the influence of
politicians.
The General
Assembly endorsed
House Joint
Resolution 3, which
would place
improved property
rights protections
into the Virginia
Constitution. The
measure is
intended to
prevent abusive
use of eminent
domain.
HJR 3 passed the
State Senate 24-16
and had previously
passed the House
of Delegates 80-18.
Along with a
reciprocal measure,
it will now be sent
to the Virginia
voters in
referendum on
Election Day, 2012.
HJR 3 would state
that the
government could
only take private
property for public
use. In addition, the
government would
be required to take
no more property
than necessary for
the public use, and
the Government
would bear the
burden of proving
that the use was, in
fact, public.

I say ye, John Phelps
John has been the force behind and in front of the New Kent Tea Party for the past three years. John has
used his own money to pay untold amounts promoting our meetings and agendas.  John has decided to
step aside and take time to recharge his batteries (well deserved)  John was our spoke person and in
addition, Each time we had a meeting  John would, not only get us a speaker but would go to the Rec
Center and set up for the event. Arraigning tables, chairs, supplying snacks, Cookies and Drinks and
good fellowship after the meetings. John and Sharon, his wife are also very involved with the Richmond
Tea Party and traveled there weekly to attend events. The New Kent Tea Party will continue on with these
duties being assumed by a number of people. John and his wife Sharon will still be a part of  our Tea
Party,  so we will still get see them at the meetings and events.

John’s leadership will be sorely missed.  God Bless
